I really loved this book too, though it was certainly uncomfortable to read at points. I was so swept up in the hurts and drama that it was almost a shock when it ended. I know exactly what you mean about reacting to a book on a gut level and not putting that into words. There are times when I can't stomach one more dysfunctional family drama. Still, I love character-driven novels, and after light chick-lit read I'm ready for something like that.
